Founded in 1968, the Jayco company has grown to hold the title of the top-selling travel trailer of all time, the Jayco Flight. It’s a title that will be very difficult for their competition to take considering that they have had the top-selling trailer every year for 14 years. As you might guess, they didn’t stumble upon this title. They’ve made a concerted effort to provide the best customer service through treating all of their customers “like family.” It might sound as good as a politician’s promise, but time has shown that this is a legitimate goal for Jayco. That is what made their company part of a very small group of trusted manufacturers.
Jayco was an early adopter of eco-friendly practices and these practices have only increased over time. In fact, in 2010 Jayco became the first RV manufacturer to become 100 percent TRA green certified. In 2013, Jayco Inc and its three divisions recycled:
- 1,284 tons of wood
- 13,221 tons of scrap metal
- 1,801 tons of cardboard and paper (equivalent of 59,900 mature trees)
At the time of this writing, 2020, Jayco has the best warranty in the RV business. Most manufacturers offer a one-year limited warranty and a three-year structural warranty after that. Jayco gives you a two-year limited warranty and a three-year structural warranty. This is a pretty big deal when motorhomes from most companies are expected to spend their first years in a service depot.
Jayco warranties are the best for another reason too. Pretty much every other manufacturer makes dealerships use their own parts for repair work. Each of them will make the occasional exception. However, they usually choose to make money instead of providing service to the customer as fast as possible. This can slow down the repair process tremendously because the repair shops will wait for weeks to backorder a specific part. Oftentimes, they have another comparable part on hand, but they won’t be allowed to use it. Putting the customer first, Jayco has made it the official policy to allow the dealerships to use the product that they have “on the shelf.” This goes a long way to preventing the repair shop horror stories of customers being forced to leave their RVs for months at a time.
